CITY OF CEDAR PARK TECHNICAL SUPPORT/HELP DESK SPECIALIST - PD in CEDAR PARK, Texas

The City of Cedar Park is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of a Technical Support / Help Desk Specialist to provide high quality customer service to the Public Safety Department. Provides computer helpdesk technical support to include installations, upgrades and end-user support; Utilizes IT helpdesk work order system to provide high quality customer service, resolving cases via telephone support or in person, with escalation and follow-up of complex problems to Assistant Director of IT to ensure timely problem resolution; Evaluates new and existing technologies with vendors, to make recommendations to Assistant Director of Information Technology and IT staff concerning possible solutions; Participates in after-hours on-call support rotation schedule; The employee assigned to this position maintains the Police Department's Public Safety Communications System, computer aided dispatch and records management applications, Digital In-Car Video System and Telecommunications functions for the city public safety departments. Also provides help desk support for public safety software, workstations, electronic ticket writers, and mobile data terminals; and Performs such other related duties as may be assigned. Acceptable Experience, Training, Certifications and Licenses High School Diploma or its equivalent, plus two (2) years of related experience; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. The hours of this position are from 2:00 PM to 11:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Supplemental Information Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS), Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), A+ Certification, and Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP) Windows Client, preferred.
