Atlassian IT Operations Team Lead in Austin, Texas

Is leadership in your DNA? Make your mark as a manager for our IT Operations Engineers and support staff who craft and maintain services for Atlassians everywhere. This diverse position will provide technical leadership and mentorship through pairing, daily stand-ups, project management and ongoing support. You'll work closely with engineers, developers and product managers to build and support a world-class staff experience. You’ll ensure that commitments stay on track, remove any roadblocks, and facilitate timely decision-making. You’ll also collaborate with other teams across Atlassian to exchange expertise and ensure project and operational support is coordination and handled smoothly.

The team needs someone who can ask questions, learn from others and turn chaos into order.

On your first day, we will expect you to have:

  • Extraordinary people and leadership skills

  • Comfortable with Debian and Red Hat based linux environments (bash and python skills a must)

  • Exposure to and maintenance of configuration management and orchestration tools such as Ansible

  • Experience with support and tuning of Atlassian products

  • Diagnosing and resolving problems in high-throughput web applications and network services

  • Building, automating, and maintaining infrastructure in Amazon Web Services

  • A real passion for problem solving and an ability to find technical solutions to business problems

  • Ability to work closely with our teams as a hands on engineer - You not only talk the talk, but deliver it as well

It is great, but not required, if you have:

  • Exposure to and maintenance of configuration management and orchestration tools such as Ansible and Puppet

  • Scripting and software development across one or more programming languages

  • Experience with container management and microservices architectures such as Docker

  • Building, automating, and maintaining infrastructure in Amazon Web Services

  • Understanding of ITIL terminology for incident and problem management

  • Management and troubleshooting of a continuous integration pipeline
