Assist Computer Science (CS) Department students, faculty, and staff with issues around hardware, software, and facilities.
Provide technical desktop support to faculty, staff, and affiliates. Troubleshoot hardware, software, IT services, and network issues across Windows, Mac, and Linux platforms and other equipment in the computer labs, faculty offices, and classrooms. Interact and communicate with peers and customers in a professional, client-focused manner while working both in a team setting and independently with limited directions. Provide email, phone, and onsite support to users. Build, manage and update desktops while ensuring desktop security in accordance with university and college directives. Maintain and update computer information efficiently across several systems, including inventory management. Assist with maintaining software and hardware technical documentation for Computing Services. Assist with various software, hardware, and audio-visual projects as needed. Provide backup support to Senior Systems Administrators. Provide audio/visual support for classrooms and lectures. Manage encryption system for CS laptops. Provide general facility and instructional lab support.
Other related functions as assigned.
Considerable knowledge of networking, desktop and mainframe computers, software, and related equipment. Demonstrated ability to interact in a professional manner with all levels of faculty, staff and students. Experience explaining computer and software operations to technical and non-technical users. Able to work as part of a team and take the initiative to work independently. Able to develop new technical skills as technology evolves. Excellent communication skills - verbal and written. Excellent record of attendance and punctuality in the workplace.
Bachelor's degree. At least one year of experience with encrypting laptops running Windows, MacOS and UNIX. At least one year of experience providing help desk and audio/visual support for an educational environment. Experience providing customer service. Ability to handle multiply tasks with deadlines. Experience completing tasks with minimal supervision.

A criminal history background check will be required for finalist(s) under consideration for this position.
The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
